Privacy Policy

THE SAN DIEGO FUTURES FOUNDATION is committed to protecting the privacy of the users of the SDBI web portal. Individually identifiable information provided voluntarily by our users will never willfully be disclosed to any third party without first receiving your permission, as explained in this privacy policy ("Privacy Policy"), or unless ordered by court.

Cookies

SDBI sends a "cookie" to your computer upon your first visit. A cookie is a computer file stored in the Cookies folder on your computer that identifies you as a unique user to our site. SDBI uses cookies to improve the quality of our service. Cookies do this by storing user preferences such as your zip code and the search radius you choose. THE SAN DIEGO FUTURES FOUNDATION will not share its cookies or disclose information in them to third parties except as required by a valid legal process such as a search warrant, subpoena, statute, or court order.Most browsers are initially set up to accept cookies. You can reset your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. What information does SDBI collect?

For the purpose of searching the web site, SDBI only collects generic information such as zip codes. It does not collect any unique information about you such as your name, email address, etc. except when you specifically and knowingly provide such information when submitting a form or in the SDBI Forums. The information we collect is only used as a way to provide better, more customized service to our users.

SDBI Forums

To participate in SDBI Forums, SDBI requests that you register as a user of the forums. Registration requires that you create a user name by which you will be known when posting to the forums, and a valid e-mail address that can be verified by the SDBI Forum Administrators. If you do not choose to register, you will be identified as a "Anonymous". Your e-mail address does not have to be publicly shared in order to use SDBI Forums. THE SAN DIEGO FUTURES FOUNDATION will never make your e-mail address available to anyone unless ordered by a court to do so.SDBI Forums offers you the ability to create a public profile of yourself. The public profile contains personal information such as your birthday, hobbies, and interests. All such information is optional and everything you enter in your public profile will be visible to other users of the site. Users are urged to be careful only to enter information on your public profile that you are comfortable sharing with the public at large. You may change, edit or delete information about yourself from your public profile at any time while online.All discussions in the SDBI Forums are monitored. SDBI Forums include filters for inappropriate language, however, THE SAN DIEGO FUTURES FOUNDATION reserves the right to delete posts that use offensive language and ban users who post them. Any and all posts that involve pornography or any other illegal activities will be sent immediately to the authorities. THE SAN DIEGO FUTURES FOUNDATION WILL COOPERATE WITH ANY AND ALL LEGAL INVESTIGATIONS OF USERS OF OUR FORUMS.THE SAN DIEGO FUTURES FOUNDATION cautions its users against giving out personal information such as names and addresses, phone numbers, social security numbers, credit card numbers, and driver's license numbers.

Links to other sites

The sites displayed as search results or linked to by SDBI are developed by people over whom SDBI and the SAN DIEGO FUTURES FOUNDATION have no control. Other links, such as those of our partners and supporters are also not controlled by SDBI. These other sites may send their own cookies to users, collect data, or solicit personal information. SDBI may choose to exhibit its search results in the form of a "URL redirecter". When SDBI uses a URL redirecter, if you click on a URL from a search result, information about the click is sent to SDBI, and SDBI in turn sends you to the site you clicked on. SDBI uses this URL information to understand and improve the quality of SDBI's search technology.

With whom does SDBI share information?

THE SAN DIEGO FUTURES FOUNDATION may share SDBI usage statistics with government agencies, funding agencies, business partners, sponsors, and other third parties. However, we only divulge aggregate information about use of SDBI. We do not collect personal information. For example, we may disclose how frequently the average SDBI user visits SDBI, or which other query words are most often used with the query word "training". Please be aware, however, that if we possess personal information about you, we will release it, if required, in order to comply with any valid legal process such as a search warrant, subpoena, statute, or court order.

Your consent and changes to the Privacy Policy

By using the SDBI Portal and our web site, you consent to the collection and use of your information as we have outlined in this policy. SDBI may decide to change this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post those changes on this page so that you are always aware of the information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances we disclose it.
